Zine Background

I started this project as a way to come to terms with my identity after a life changing accident that left me with a prosthetic leg in 2022. By viewing myself through the lens of what media and commodities I consumed, I learned a lot about what I’m drawn to.

Looking back on this work, it’s interesting seeing how this piece translates from 2 dimensional to 3 dimensional in my more recent projects in relation to themes and colors that I tend to gravitate towards; highly saturated colors with contrast, and playful & whimsical themes with a twist.

Through this process I taught myself Photoshop and InDesign, which was definitely a learning curve with figuring out layers, fonts, textures, and more; but I’m proud of the finished product as a beginner, and feel like this zine is a perfect representation of myself at its time period.
